Saffron
Saffron (Crocus sativa) is an increasingly popular herbal medicine. Numerous studies have identified that it is able to downregulate inflammation within the nervous system. By reducing neuro-inflammation of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves, it has the potential to assist in a range of neurological and psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, pain, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, MS and cerebral ischemia.¹ While more research is need to further evaluate its properties, this beautiful herb may become a commonly utilized medicine in the future.
