Principle #1: First Do No Harm
There are six principles that underpin naturopathic medicine. Number 1 is: first, do no harm.
In naturopathy, safety is maintained by utilizing the least amount of force and intervention necessary to diagnose and treat each person.
Natural self-healing mechanisms are supported, and when possible harmful suppression of symptoms are avoided, to minimize risk of adverse effects from treatment.
‘As to diseases, make a habit of two things: to help, or at least to do no harm’ - Hippocrates, the father of medicine.
